Rolls Royce invests 18 million into Bristol this month at their site which employs over 3,000 people.

Rolls Royce’s announcement of investment comes only a month after their statement of its plans to cut 2,600 jobs over the next eighteen months most coming from within the aerospace divisions with approximately 800 cuts to the sites in Bristol and Derby.

The news is a welcome signal of intent at the Patchway plant and the industry as a whole since the aerospace industry of the United Kingdom  is the second- or third-largest national aerospace industry in the world, depending upon the method of measurement.  The industry employs around 113,000 people directly and around 276,000 indirectly and has an annual turnover of around £20 billion.

Interesting Fact: Red Arrows pilots are amongst the most highly qualified and experienced within the Royal Air Force, They have all been selected for their above average flying skills and no wonder since the The Hawk T1 can reach speeds of 550 knots which is just over 600 miles per hour!
